TACKLE

Salmon fishing tackle has a few groups to it.

Firstly, there are flashers, which attract the salmon, because in the wild a salmon will see another fish run through a school of baitfish and will start feeding.

Secondly, there are many, many lure choices. The most common types are:

Anchovies - A bait holder which holds an anchovy.
Hootchies - Imitates a small fish.
Squirts - Imitates needlefish / sandlance
Spoons - Imitates small fish, made of metal.
Apex Lures - Colourful small fish imitator lures.
Plugs - A cylindrical small fish imitation
Herring - Often used as cut plug herring with hooks

Other than explaining the simple terms heard in the salmon tackle world, I would like to direct you to the Tackle Page in Salmonstructions. All you need can be found here.
