RECOMMENDED READING

Here are some books that I have read and found they helped me very much.

The books I suggest you read to improve your salmon knowledge are as follows. I have grabbed the photos of the books off Amazon, and all these books are available on Amazon.com however I highly recommend all these following books.

If you somehow read through all the books on here, you will be 120% set for a salmon fishing trip around the BC coast. I would be lying if I said none of the information I have provided on Salmonstructions probably didn't come from some of these books when I was learning! They are all fantastic.

How to Catch Salmon: Advanced Techniques by Charlie White

This book has fantastic information in it and will definately improve your salmon fishing. Available at most book stores and Amazon.com.

(I believe there is also a 'Beginner' prequel to this book as well should you choose)

Unfortunately, this salmon legend recently passed away. Rest in peace Charlie.

Charlie White's 103 Fishing Secrets by Charlie White.

Every tip in here is valuable. Again, all tips that will improve your game.

Maximum Salmon by D.C. Reid

A great book with lots of information. Similiar style to Charlie White's Advanced Techniques. There is alot of information in here that is very useful!

D.C. Reid also writes for the Times Colonist in Victoria and has produced other fishing books. He is a great author and is quite knowledgable.

Vancouver Island Fishing Guide by D.C. Reid

I recently picked up this book last summer and have since planned a couple fishing trips from the information I got in it. It is a great guidebook for fishing around the island!

Backroad Mapbook - Vancouver Island by Trent Ernst

I picked up this copy just under a year ago and used it on several fishing trips last year. It has all backroads/logging roads, campsites, boat launches, facilities, etc. It is a must have if you plan to tour around the island to remote locations.

There are volumes of this for pretty much all of BC as well, and I believe other parts of Canada too!

How to Catch Crabs by Charlie White

Crabbing is a great way to add to the catch of the day after a day's fishing, and it is very simple. This book explains how to do this.

Charlie White also produced a book called How to Catch Bottomfish, which I could not find a photo of but is also a great book if you intend to learn the art of bottomfishing.
