ABOUT MYSELF

Myself, I have been fishing, passionately my whole life. I began at a young age fishing with a worm on a hook for smallmouth bass in Ontario, before moving to BC as a child, and learning about salmon fishing. Since I was old enough to paddle, I have been fishing for salmon.

I have seriously fished off Vancouver Island ever since. I began learning in the Saanich Inlet, nicknamed 'the Dead Sea' throughout the late 90s. Ironically, this ensured I had all my gear running perfectly, so as to have every chance I could in catching a salmon. Very few salmon are landed in the inlet throughout the summer.

My first big spring that I caught, running my own little 12' boat, by myself, was a 26lber off Separation Point, not far from Cowichan Bay; it was the first of many!

Since then, I began fishing off Sooke, and I have guided many friends and family, and did guide professionally for two years. My experience has been mostly off Sooke, Saanich Inlet and Port Renfrew. However recently I have made a couple trips out to Clayoquot Sound and Tofino, the Alberni Inlet and the Campbell River area. I also spent a couple summers fishing the waters off Vancouver itself.

Except for guiding off larger sized boats, I fish out of a simple, open 16', 60hp boat. Nothing too fancy. I hope to keep exploring what Vancouver Island, and the BC coast, have to offer for salmon fishing!

I made this site in the hopes that it helps people out, and it catches them more fish, or makes their fishing day more enjoyable. Everyone does things different and if they can take something they like, great. The one thing I never liked much when I was starting out was the 'fishing snobs'. I hated answers such as "go read about it", or "put your time in". It was rather implied that I was going to put my time in. I do believe that it is always nice to be out, the fish are just a great bonus. But, everyone wants to catch fish, so I would always soak up all the information that I could! I hope others out there can do just that with this site.

Tight lines!
